Scope – Architecture, Interior design & Build
Completion – 2003
A run down, turn of the century blue stone cottage, with inadequate accommodation, typical of this cosmopolitan near city suburb. Comprising of a relatively narrow site with rear lane vehicle access.
A contemporary open plan extension was requested incorporating a new kitchen, dining and living area, maximising natural light and bringing a new dimension of space to the home.
The new kitchen, dining and living area is complemented by a lap pool running along the northern side, with the simple classic lines of the new built form working effortlessly with the form and detail of the existing cottage. A glass corridor provides a seamless connection between the buildings, with highly polished timber floors providing continuity between old and new. The roofline of the two-storey extension features an expansive timber lined over hang that assists in contextualizing and compressing the scale of the new two-storey form.
